A Wee Introduction to Geopathic Stress

What Is Geopathic Stress?

Geopathic stress is a natural phenomenon that affects certain places and can be damaging to our health.  It relates to irregularities in the earth’s magnetic field, which can be disturbed by streams of underground water, geological fractures, quarries, mine workings and other features.

Depending on its source, geopathic stress may be found either as a line passing through an area, or as an irregular zone or pool.

Geopathic stress is a primary factor influencing the health or sickness of our living or working environment, to which we are all sensitive in varying degrees.  The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that:  “30% of all buildings are sick buildings.”  This may apply to either your home or your office.  Some people are affected by geopathic stress more than others.  Those who are not affected now can become affected later, if their sensitivity changes.

Some places make us feel ill at ease.  We just feel uncomfortable.  We are often at a loss to describe or explain this sense.  Geopathic stress is a likely cause.

Effects on Plants and Animals

All plants are sensitive to their environment, and require the correct balance of light, moisture and soil nutrients to thrive.  Many plant species are also sensitive to their magnetic environment, and will either thrive or fail depending on the presence or absence of geopathic stress.  Many flowering shrubs, fruiting trees, beech trees and vegetables that come to a head above ground will fail to thrive in the presence of geopathic stress, and sometimes people remark on one part of their home or garden where plants seem to wither and die for no apparent reason.

may fail or die if growing over geopathic stress.

Similarly, different animal species are sensitive to the presence or absence of geopathic stress in their environment.  Birds will generally avoid nesting in geopathically stressed locations, and horses, cows, sheep and pigs fail to thrive and are often bothered with colic, mastitis and fertility problems when restrained in a geopathically stressed stall or stable.  Dogs also generally avoid geopathic stress.

Interestingly, some plant and animal species are attracted to geopathic stress and may be an indication of its presence.  Cats are very fond of it, as are insects generally, moulds and fungi, plants in the nightshade family and a number of medicinal herbs, including mistletoe.

Early farmers were close observers of geopathic stress and its effects on their herds and crops.  Geopathic stress was largely eliminated from their farming landscape by the careful placement of standing stones and stone circles, a practice that we refer to today as “geomancy”.

Effects of Geopathic Stress on Health

‘Geo’ means ‘of the Earth’.

‘Pathic’ means leading to pathological change, illness or disease.

You have read how some animals react to geopathic stress.  Humans respond to geopathic stress too.  Babies are remarkably sensitive.  If your baby sleeps only in one corner of their cot the probability is that they find that area has least geopathic stress in it.  They migrate to the place of least stress.  If they have great difficulty in settling at nights, are fractious and try all different places in their cot but are still unhappy then it is likely that the whole cot is on a site of geopathic stress.

Geopathic stress can be particularly draining if it affects the bedroom.  You spend eight or so hours of the 24 in your bed, static in that energy field.

The Geopathic stress can run in a line across the bed or along the bed, or be at any angle.  Sometimes there are more than one line of geopathic stress affecting one bed.  It can also affect the rooms next door, or above and below the bedroom.

Why Is Geopathic Stress Important?

Geopathic stress drains your energy.

If you feel irritable, short-tempered, or out-of-sorts at home it may not be your partner, it may be your home where the energy is simply not right for you.

When you are sensitive to geopathic stress and sleep away from home in a non-geopathically stressed area you will probably find that you sleep better and feel more energised.

In cases where good Acupuncture and well-selected Homeopathy does not work it is probably because the client is exposed to geopathic stress.  This undoes the benefit of the Acupuncture or Homeopathy.

Geopathic stress interferes with healing.

The effects of geopathic stress are insidious.  Over time you become depleted.  Your energy will reduce, your temperament may change.  Your cells become less efficient, your power to heal reduces and, ultimately, the cells can change physically. Geopathic stress may affect particular systems or organs in the body.

Tumours may form, particularly where lines of geopathic stress intersect.

Where geopathic stress is corrected then healing is often accelerated, when before it was blocked.

Many practitioners are still unaware of geopathic stress as a cause of disease development, however awareness of geopathic stress is gradually growing throughout the whole community.

What Can I Do if I Suspect Geopathic Stress?

Your holistic practitioner can assess whether or not you are being affected by geopathic stress.  If you are, you will probably want to have the geopathic stress removed from your home or workplace.

There are a wide variety of strategies for reducing or eliminating geopathic stress and its effects from your environment.  Some of these include proprietary devices, which can be installed into a home or office.  Other techniques, more in keeping with former practices, include using “earth acupuncture” techniques – inserting either metal rods or sometimes stone into the earth at focal or nodal points to subtly change the local magnetic environment.  This work is often done by a dowser or geomantic practitioner who will come and assess the particular needs of your space.

Most homes and workplaces can be cleared of geopathic stress and its effects, either with a single visit or with a short series of visits spaced some weeks apart.
